SAMHAIN

The Story of Halloween &
A Celebration of the Celtic New Year
through traditional Song, Dance & Story.

"Feast with us this All Hallows Eve as the veil between the worlds draw thin and
beloved spirits dance again to songs of old and tales untold."

Matinee Show — 3:00 PM
Dinner — 5:00 PM - Menu (PDF)
Evening Show — 7:00 PM

An evening of fun, frolic, songs, dance, mayhem, and shivering ghost stories.

There's a lot more to Halloween than ghosts, goblins and rubber masks. Our Samhain production is packed full of high energy Irish dances, traditional Celtic tunes that will bewitch your feet and keep your toes a-tappin', ghostly love songs that will rip out your heart, and exciting dances with real swords and axe handles for a start. You'll hear tales of the true origins of the Jack O'Lantern, of ghostly Irish pub encounters, and the origins of All Hallows' Eve.

Enjoy the evening to the fullest with a traditional Samhain dinner. The Moose Lodge will provide a full no-host bar for the purchase of spirits and other refreshments.

CAST OF PERFORMERS:

Barry Lynch

This New York born actor is the perfect narrator for Samhain. His credits are too long to list, but include appearances in three Star Trek movies, Star Trek: The Next Generation, and Miami Vice.

Slugger O'Toole

Slugger O'Toole is a Southern California-based Celtic traditional/rock quintet. They concoct a lethal brew of foot-stomping classics and deft instrumentals. Their live shows at the Ford Amphitheatre and the LA County Irish Fair (to name a few) have been (favorably) compared to "being punched in the face with a fistful of shamrocks."

ACS Dancers

The combined talents of Becky Bennett, Marla DuMont, Thea Quigley, Alice Ryan, Phoebe Shaw, and Mark Signacio will leave you cheering for more. Céilí dance, Cape Breton step dance, sean-nós (old-style Irish), Shetland sword dance, and Welsh Border Morris dance (that's the dance with axe handles) are some of the tricks they have up their sleeve.

Chris Loken (aka "Smokin' Loken")

One of the most talented fiddlers in Southern California, Chris is in great demand by many of the well known bands in the area. We're very excited to have him as part of Samhain.

Steve Pribyl

On uillean pipes and whistle, Steve has played at numerous festivals, on film soundtracks, and has opened for internationally known groups such as Altan and the Young Dubliners.

Aedan MacDonnell

Aedan is an award-winning harper, multi-instrumentalist, singer, dancer, and now producer. Her enchanting music transports you directly to the Emerald Isle, and the magical strains of the harp under her fingers will lure you into the veil between the worlds.

Peter Romano

On guitar and vocals, Peter is a brilliant songwriter and performer of unstoppable energy.

Adam Kirk

With feet faster than a speeding bullet, Adam is a top competitor in Irish dance competition.

Linnea Soledad

Her heart-stopping vocals will leave you breathless. Linnea began her singing career performing classical pieces at such places as the Shrine Auditorium and the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion before leaving the States to study abroad in Florence, Italy. Upon her return, she wandered into Celtic Arts Center, fell in love with Celtic music, sang at the L.A. County Irish Fair, and was off again to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, where she helped in the beginning stages of the Brave Hearted Woman Theater Company. She now lives in the forests of Iwihinmu, the Chumash center of the world, where you can catch her singing to the wildlife in the woods, recording for Sheepherder Records, or at the Celtic Seisiun of her village.

Celtic Divas

Put together 4 female vocalists, one male guitarist and a harp, and you have the sonorous sounds of the Celtic Divas.
