The Celtic way of life celebrated by so many was once codified in a legal system, and passed on by word of mouth over millennia. Known as the Brehon Law, the code governed the multiplicity of rights and relationships belonging to each person in the realm. Prof. Nagy will share the facets of Brehon Law that governed Celtic society and how it shaped the culture. This lecture will be held on July 19, 2014 at 1:00 PM at The Mayflower Club at 11110 Victory Blvd in North Hollywood. The talk will begin at 1:30 PM and will be followed by a reception at 2:30 PM. Admission is $15 ($10 for students with ID and Celtic Arts Center members.) The Celtic Arts Center is proud to present this special event as part of its continuing educational mission. Prof. Joseph F. Nagy is a recognized authority in Celtic mythology, literature, and folklore. Recently he edited Writing Down The Myths (Brepols, 2013), a collection of comparative studies of mythography. He has a Ph.D. in Celtic Languages and Literature from Harvard University.
